Reflection:
The artifacts I selected to show I have met this standard is a class website and a Edmodo group I created for my school to share technology ideas and research with school staff. These artifacts were developed in conjunction with my teaching throughout the school year to assist in communication with students, parents, peers as well as with the larger community. The Edmodo group was to create to involve other teachers at my school in a more active, collaborative learning tool in regards to technology. School staff can share resources and have discussion regards tools. I additional have an Edmodo group for my classroom which allows me to communication with students and parents. I have a class website which I have created to a communication tools and a place to store lessons which we cover in class and as extensions.
My contribution to these artifacts was the research, planning and design of the website, its contents and use of Edmodo. The artifacts demonstrate my ability to use digital communication and collaboration tools to communicate locally and globally. Both the website and Edmodo demonstrate my ability to communicate providing updates and information and important links for students, peers and community. My class website includes the course syllabus, my Twitter feed about class events, resource tools and lessons. The school technology Edmodo group a RSS feed in order to keep teachers abreast of current resources and trends in educational technology. In creating this sites and group, I have expanded my knowledge in how to develop communication tools for my classroom, peers, and the larger community.
.When creating these resources, I learned the importance of providing easily available resources for teachers, students, and families. What I would do differently to improve this artifact would be to be to provide greater clarity to students and parents at the start of the year on the use of both the website and Edmodo, and how the two complement one another. I will continue to increase communication with teachers on the power of professional development using the Edmodo Communities.
The work that went into creating this artifact will positively impact student learning and faculty development. Student learning is impacted with important information readily available when resources are shared and collaboration can take place. This impact can be measure by student achievement on common assessment and testing. This occurs as important information is clarified and resources are shared and students use these platforms for collaboration. The work that went into (goes into) these artifacts impacts school improvement through fostering a better informed and engaged stakeholder community. It impacts faculty development by providing an efficient means of communicating and collaborating. This faculty development can be assessed via staff surveys and observations.
