6.3 Field Experiences

Candidates engage in appropriate field experiences to synthesize and apply the content and professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions identified in these standards. (PSC 6.3)

Artifact:
Field Experience Page
Reflection:

The field experience page lists all of the field experiences I completed as part of the Ed.S. Program in Instructional Technology.  In total, I completed and documented 15 field experiences totaling more than 120 hours of fieldwork.  Some experiences were specified by the course syllabi, and some were chosen by me to meet various requirements for the ITEC program.

The field experiences allowed me to take course content and apply it to my teaching practice.  During course of this program my field experience provided a variety of opportunities.  I designed blended learning environment, coached colleagues in instructional technology, developed and led staff development sessions.  It is through these experiences I used technology to enhance student learning experiences at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. I was able to use and apply the principles of design and equitable access to technology to safeguard that all students were able to effectively interact with technology in these learning experiences.  The field experience logs detail the activities that I completed and the impact that these experiences had on teaching and learning at the schools in which they were completed. Through reflection of this experience, I will be able to synthesize and apply the successful aspects from these experiences to help other teachers in the future.

With each field experience being a unique learning experience, I was able to further obtain the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to become a technology leader.  I was able to learn collaboration and coaching skills to reach colleagues at all levels of technology proficiency.  I learned during these experience a designated amount of time is needed in planning and implement these lessons along with patience in facilitation and troubleshooting of these technology based activity. Through each experience, I grew as a professional and deepened my passion for technology integration in the classroom.  If I could change something about these experiences, I would like to further my development as an instructional coach and work with additional peers.  It is through these coaching experiences in which I will further grow as a professional along with helping others grow as well.

These experiences offered teachers a chance to grow professionally and inspired students to explore and create using technology.  Each field experience impacted school improvement by helping to change teaching practice in order to help student’s master content and learn more effectively.  Each field experience was completed with a different teacher or set of students so that I was able to reach as many colleagues as possible.  The impact of these experiences can be assessed through my growth as a teaching professional and instructional coach.  The impact can be evaluated through the achievement growth of my students and my ongoing efforts to collaborate with others to drive change in our school and district.
